Barbara Rae Morse, 73

Wednesday March 3, 2010 Barbara Rae Morse, 73, passed away on February 24, 2010 after a nine year courageous battle with cancer. She died at the residence of her daughter in Troy, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 1, 1936 in Troy, she was the eldest daughter to Raymond (Huck) and Edith (Williams) Morris. She was born at home on Canton Street.

Barbara was a 1954 graduate of Troy High School.

She was married to Edward Harrison Morse on June 27, 1954. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together. Barbara helped her husband on their farm just outside of Troy. They had dairy cows and also a large apple orchard that drew many people from around the northern Tier. During the early years along with helping her husband she also worked at the Troy Sale barn. In her later years she worked for ten years as a waitress at the Edgewood’s Restaurant in Troy.

Barb’s love for life was for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Barb’s favorite times were spent going to her grandchildren’s sporting events, traveling to sunny destinations, “living it up” in the casinos and reading a good novel. She shared a special love for her cat “Morris” and dog “Gracie”.

In addition to her husband, Ed, she is survived by her children: son, James Morse; his wife, (Pam) and three kids, Alex, Maddie and Cecilia, of Troy; daughter, Theresa Manning, her husband (Rodney) and children, Christopher and wife, Amanda, Allyson and Meghan of Troy; daughter, Carolee Morse from Sherburne, NY; her sister-in-law, Barbara Morris, Troy; nephew, Mike Searfoss with his wife, Susan and two children. She had several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Vickie Sax and Jean Havens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Harold, and sister, Carol, and cousin, Sandy.

A funeral service was held at the The First Baptist Church of Troy, February 27.

Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy.

Donations may be directed to Memorial Hospital Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Towanda, PA 18848, and the Troy Baptist Church.

Funeral services were under the direction of the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory & Monuments, PC, Mansfield.
